Two shelters. One incredible community. One amazing achievement!

When we launched our fundraising appeal on Facebook, we hoped to raise €2,000 to help two of the Romanian shelters we work alongside with much needed supplies.

And thanks to our absolutely amazing supporters, WE SMASHED IT! 🎉

Together, we raised the full €2,000, which has now been sent to the shelters!

💜 €1,400 to ProDog Shelter, Suceava, helping towards much-needed dog food and essential treatments.

💜 €600 to Nicoleta’s shelter, helping towards vital flea, tick and worming treatments.

For shelters caring for so many rescued dogs, these everyday essentials come at a huge cost. Your generosity has helped ease that financial pressure and made a real difference to the dogs in their care.

We’ve included photographs, invoices and payment confirmations so you can see exactly how your donations have helped.

A Huge Thank You!

To everyone who donated, shared our appeal or helped spread the word, THANK YOU!

Whether you gave £1 or £50, every single donation helped us reach our target.

We’re a small rescue with an incredible community behind us, and achievements like this remind us just how much we can accomplish together.

€2,000. Two shelters. So many dogs helped. 🐾

You absolute superstars!

THISTLE PAWS RESCUE IS ONE!

Today officially marks one whole year of Thistle Paws Rescue!

TPR might only be one, but the experience behind it certainly isn’t. After years spent helping to build and run another rescue, on 6th October 2025 we took everything we’d learned and started a new chapter as Thistle Paws.

And what a first year it’s been…

152 dogs have found their forever homes.

We’ve welcomed dogs from Romania and stepped in for dogs needing help right here in Scotland. We’ve watched terrified dogs learn to trust, poorly puppies become healthy, foster dogs blossom and families meet the dogs they now couldn’t imagine life without.

152 little lives, each with their own story.

To every one of our adopters, thank you for choosing rescue and giving one of our dogs a family of their own.

And a HUGE thank you to our foster families. 21 dogs have needed foster homes this year. Without people willing to open their homes, give them time, build their confidence and love them while they waited, some of those happy endings might not have happened.

To the incredible rescuers at the shelters and foster families in Romania who get these dogs to safety and trust us with their futures, thank you.

A special thank you also goes to our wonderful homecheck and welfare teams, working away behind the scenes to help make sure our dogs are safe, supported and heading to the right homes.

And to everyone who has donated, volunteered, shared our posts or supported us along the way, you’ve helped make this possible too.

Every donation helps towards veterinary care, testing, transport and getting the next dog safe and home.

If you’d like to help us as we head into year two, please check out our donate page. Every donation helps us bring more dogs into foster care, help welfare cases receive emergency vet care, and allows us to provide further support for all dogs.

Happy 1st Birthday, Thistle Paws Rescue!

Here’s to year two.

Community Kindness Makes a Difference

🐾 A huge thank you to Laurencekirk Pet & Equine Supplies for their incredibly generous £225 gift certificate donation to Thistle Paws Rescue.

This will go a long way in helping us provide food, treats, toys and essential supplies for the dogs in our care. We are so grateful for the support of local businesses and our community.

Thank you for helping us give our rescue dogs the care they deserve.

Why Thistle Paws Rescue Was Created

We are a Scottish-based, foster-led dog rescue, founded on of a deep passion for animal welfare and a commitment to improving the lives of dogs in need. With experience in rescue environments, rehoming processes, and supporting vulnerable animals, TPR was created to bridge the gap between dogs needing help and the people ready to give them a second chance. We understand that rescue work is not just about rehoming, it’s about rehabilitation, trust-building, and ensuring every dog is truly ready for their forever home. TPR was built to focus on that care-first approach.
