Our Partner Behaviourists
Our partner behaviourists use only kind, force‑free methods and have years of experience helping foreign rescue dogs settle, learn, and thrive. They offer compassionate, knowledgeable support for those who may need a little extra guidance.
Positive Direction provides gentle, force‑free behaviour support for dogs and their humans. They work with all dogs, but have a particular passion for helping rescue and shelter dogs who may be anxious, reactive, or finding the world a bit overwhelming.
With a background in supporting vulnerable people, a Counselling Skills qualification from the University of Strathclyde, and a canine behaviour diploma from the International School of Canine Psychology, their approach is calm, empathetic, and trauma‑informed. They’ve supported adopters through Barking Mad Dog Rescue for many years and now help lead the team bringing Romanian rescue dogs safely into UK homes.
Based in Falkirk and specialising in remote sessions, they can work with adopters and supporters wherever they are. Their own Romanian dogs, Dylan and Sia, are the inspiration behind the service. All training is fully force‑free and rooted in positive reinforcement.
Mizz Pawz is run by Deborah O’Neill, a professional dog trainer with over 10 years of hands‑on experience and a strong academic background in canine behaviour. Deborah is committed to staying up to date with the latest research and modern, ethical training methods, regularly completing new courses, attending seminars, and investing in ongoing professional development to make sure every dog gets the best support possible.
Her passion for training started early. Growing up, Deborah and her family worked closely with rescue and rehabilitation charities, helping dogs with a wide range of behavioural needs. Seeing nervous dogs learn to trust again and watching their personalities shine through is what inspired her to turn this work into a career. Since then, she has gained multiple dog training awards and spent thousands of hours building her skills through study, shadowing, and practical experience.
Deborah offers 1‑2‑1 training, online classes, and seminars, supporting dogs and their owners to build confidence, strengthen their bond, and reach their full potential. She has worked with many different breeds over the years and loves tailoring training to suit each dog’s individual needs. At home, she shares life with her two dogs, Cookie the Jack Russell Terrier and Oreo the Springer Spaniel, who enjoy a variety of activities including scentwork, trick training, gundog work, agility, and more.
Mizz Pawz is fully insured, CRB‑checked, and trained in canine first aid. Deborah also holds a range of recognised qualifications in dog training and behaviour, ensuring a safe, knowledgeable, and supportive service for every dog and owner she works with.
